Young Men’s Camp was a huge success! Camp was held June 14-17 at Zion Ponderosa near Zion National Park in Utah. We were happy to have over 160 young men participate.
Activities included archery, slingshot, swimming, hiking to Observation Point, marksmanship and gun safety, spent brass shell key-rings, fire safety and flint and steel fire making, learning to tie knots, knife sharpening techniques and safety, whittling, hatchet throwing, friendly ward competitions with bags of candy as prizes, and a waterslide park in Las Vegas on the way home.
Highlights included spiritual thoughts at each activity station, bishop’s messages at the hike’s lookout point, ward firesides and s’mores Thursday night, and stake fireside and brownies and ice cream dessert on Friday night.
The new friendships, the priest to deacon mentoring program, and the many positive experiences far outweighed the few cut fingers and wet thunderstorms.
A big thanks to Ann Myer and her awesome catering committee, and over 40 stake and ward leaders who contributed resources and sacrificed time away to make the magic happen.
