Jenny Reeder is a nineteenth-century women’s history specialist at the LDS Church History Department. She has a PhD in American history from George Mason University, with an emphasis in women’s history, religious history, memory, and material culture. Her dissertation, “Doing Something Extraordinary: Mormon Women and the Creation of a Usable Past” explores the material culture used to commemorate the first fifty years of Relief Society and is pending publication. Her master’s degree is from New York University in history, archival management, and documentary editing. She has worked with the Roy Rozenzweig Center for History and New Media at GMU, the Center for American Jewish History, the Gilder Lehrman Collection at the New-York Historical Society, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the New York Universalist-Unitarian church, and the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for LDS History. She serves on the executive committee of the Mormon Women’s History Initiative Team.
